NURSERY NEWSLETTER 24TH JANUARY 2020

24th January 2020

Dear parents and carers

We have had a fantastic week in Nursery, learning more about all of the different types of transport.  We have started our phonics and maths groups this week and we have been so proud of how the children are listening and organising themselves without very little help from adults at maths and phonic times.

We have been learning all about Chinese New Year; the children learned about how to prepare for Chinese New Year, the colour red and its importance (we are THE luckiest Nursery as we have red uniform!) and we talked about 2020 being the year of the RAT.

The Naughty Bus

We have been reading and doing lots of activities about the Naughty Bus.  Here is the link to a version of the story we have been watching:

GLOVES and MITTENS

As the weather is particularly cold at the moment and gloves and mittens are needed, can we suggest sewing them onto some string which can be threaded through their coat.  This will reduce the number of lost gloves and mittens as well as making your child more independent when getting ready for outdoor play as they will need very little support.

Can you help?

Does your work involve some method of transport?  If so, we would love you to come and talk to the children about your job.  Please email me if that is something you could help with.

Nursery Parent Observation Sheet

NOT for January intake children

Today is the deadline to return these sheets so please send return either by email or paper copy.

Diary dates

There are some upcoming dates for your diary:

  1. We have a ‘Maths workshop’ on Wednesday 29th January at 6pm in the studio.  This session is not suitable for children.  If you are unable to make it, please let us know and we can provide you with the handouts.  The session will last approximately 40 minutes.

  1. We have an INSET day on Friday 31st Janaury and are closed this day.

  1. There are some induction sessions for volunteers coming up with Mrs Morgan on Friday 7th February, she will be running two 30 minute volunteer training sessions for parents at 9.00am and 2.45pm. You are welcome to attend either if you would like to volunteer in the school in any way.

Next week

In maths sessions we are learning about Conservation: knowing that the number does not change if things are rearranged.

In phonics we are learning about Body Percussion and how we can use parts of our bodies to make noises such as clapping, blowing etc.

Have a lovely weekend
